Militants attacks popular hotel in Mogadishu, kills 12 people with dozen injuries

At least 12 people people killed after Al Shabaab militants stormed a popular hotel in Mogadishu on Friday evening. Dozens others were left injured in the heavy one on one encounter with the Government forces and the militant

Heavy gunfire could still be heard from the hotel On Saturday morning, as government forces worked to end the hotel siege

The attack began with an explosion by a suicide bomber outside the hotel gate before gunmen charged the lobby of the Hayat Hotel.

Abdirahman Hassan Iman, the hotel’s owner is believed to be among the one killed in the attack
