
Queen Elizabeth II, the second-longest reigning monarch in history, has died. She was 96. Buckingham Palace broke the news in a statement on September 9 (Manila time).
Ascending to the throne in 1952 at the age of 25, the beloved British monarch ruled longer than any of her predecessors, inheriting a United Kingdom still rising from the ashes of the second world war.
