Janet Chepkoech, a local resident of Kericho, is undoubtedly one of the best examples of womans who are industrious, She overcame a difficult period in her life and developed her idea for a business that earned her a fortune.
Chepkoech, a porridge vendor, said in her previous interview that she entered the industry to support her family because she was the breadwinner and had no formal job.
Since her entry into the industry, she has built a reliable customer base to whom she regularly serves porridge. She claimed that her regular customers include traders from across the city and government officials from Kericho County.
The mother of two earns up to Sh4,000 a day, which she said works out to more than Sh100,000 a month if she works consistency a week. Chepkoech says she has to wake up early in the morning to prepare the porridge and chapatis in time for delivery to customers.
She admitted that she has been in the industry for over five years, and she said that educating and supporting her children is her top priority.
She explains that continuing to provide service that meet her customers’ expectations, positive feedback, and listening to their customers are critical to her business.
