Brian Mwenda, accused of impersonating a Supreme Court lawyer, has asked a Nairobi court to grant him bail.
Through lawyers John Khaminwa and Danstan Omari, Mwenda said that allegations that he could flee court proceedings were false, arguing that he had no reason to leave the country.
Omari said that no compelling reason was presented to the court to deny Mwenda bail.
In an affidavit filed before Milimani Law court, Mwenda stated that he campaigned for LSK president Erick Theuri when he was seeking to become LSK president, adding that Theuri was granted bail each time he was arrested.

Mwenda accused LSK of going beyond its mandate, saying it was a political moment for the company, adding that there were cases of identity theft and LSK management never addressed those case and their involvement in the way they treated them.
He said that there was evidence of his ability and skill despite his lack of formal training.
Although the circumstances and environment were now quite hostile to him, he was determined to seek a breakthrough in his legal career, similar to the common law developed in post-independence Kenya, despite the Harsh tribal and colonial rule.
He had initially said he would deliver his bail on Tuesday morning.
On Thursday last week, a Nairobi court allowed the Law Society(LSK) to be part of Mwenda’s case.
In a ruling delivered by Lukas Onyina ruled that being a victim cannot just be a natural person as alleged by the defence lawyers.
He denies six counts of making false documents, using false documents and identity theft.
